04 September 2003 - Thursday
Following
breakfast, we are heading to the old city to visit the "Hippodrome", once upon
a time 1.000.000 spectators were watching at the chariot races and the gladiator
fights. Highlight of this visit is the obelisk that was built 5.000 years before
in Egypt and transported to Istanbul by the Roman Empire. Then, we are going
to walk Blue Mosque next to Hippodrome. This mosque is famous with its delicate
blue ceramic tiles which is one of the "master pieces" of Ottoman Empires. After
this, we will visit Saint Sophia church. This church - converted mosque - turned
museum takes breath away with in sheer architectural size of its interior and
magnificent dome. After then, we will proceed the spectacular Topkapi Palace,
built on one of the seven hills of Istanbul City. This huge complex commands
the views of the Marmara Sea, the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. Lunch will
be served at the Imperial Terrace of the palace with the best panoramic site
of Istanbul city. Finally, we will go to the Grand Bazaar which is the most
attractive shopping center and the biggest "soak" in the world with nearly 4000
shops antiquities, jewelry, gold, carpets and leather wear. After we finished
our program for today we are going back to our Hotel for dinner and overnight.
05 September 2003 - Friday
Departure
from your Hotel after breakfast for visit to the aromatic Spice Bazaar, where
the scents of cinnamon cloves and thyme rise from hundreds of colorful muslin
bags at every store - front. Then take a look at the Suleymaniye mosque dedicated
in the name of Suleyman the Magnificent who was the most famous Ottoman Sultan
in his reign more than twenty country was conquered. After the tour program
finished, our travel agency will handle your transfer to Istanbul (Ataturk)
airport.

PRE - CONFERENCE CAPPADOCIA TOUR PROGRAM
04 September 2003 - Thursday
This
morning we are going to pick you up from your Hotels and we are heading in route
to Cappadocia via picturesque Salt Lake which is the second biggest in Turkey.
After lunch, we will visit the underground city of Kaymakli where 1400 years
ago people carved the earth down and created huge complexes in 50 meters deep
to defend themselves. Thousands of early Christians lived here and concealed
from persecutors in eight-story complexes of subterranean dwellings. Dinner
will be served at your hotel
05 September 2003 - Friday
After
breakfast early departure from the Hotel for touring the citadel of Uchisar
to see the enchanting lunar landscape of the region: 'moon-like' topography
of Cappadocia. We will enjoy nature where the wind and the weather have eroded
the soft volcanic rock, leaving pillars, cones and "Fair Chimneys".
Then we are going to comes Goreme, with its rock chapels hollowed out by early
Christians. These rock chapels were used by early Christians as secret dwellings
for the purpose of protecting themselves from first by their Roman and later
by their Byzantine persecutors. These secret dwellings decorated with vivid
frescoes, which have withstood the corrosive effects of the time dating from
the 6th to the 10th century, would be an unforgettable experience. We will also
visit pottery - making village Avanos and see how pots and tiles are made out
of white and red clays on the flying wheel. When we finished our program in
the late afternoon, we are going to drive back to Ankara and leave you back
to your Hotels.

Transfer
to the Ankara Airport after breakfast for your Istanbul flight. Right after

ANKARA TOUR PROGRAM
05 September 2003 - Friday & 10 September 2003 - Thursday
This morning you will
be picked up from your Hotels for the city tour. After a short orientation,
we will visit the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who is the great founder
of the Turkish Republic. In this spectacular complex, we are going to walk on
the Lionized Road which is opened in to the Monumental Courtyard, crowned with
the Hellenistic temple shape mausoleum. Also you are going to have the chance
to see the impressive guards changing. Then, we are heading to the "Museum of
Anatolian Civilization " which is one of the best pre-historic museums of the
world. Also, got the award of "Museum of Europe" in 1999. You will see the splendors
collection of Asia Minor through out the thousands of years just like the monumental
tomb of "King Midas with Golden Touch. After this we are going to have a lunch
in a local restaurant near the castle where you are going to have a change to
taste the local foods. Finally, we will proceed to 12th century Aladdin Mosque,
which still boasts fine Seljuk woodwork although much rebuilt by the Ottomans.
Many interesting traditional Turkish houses have been restored in the area,
and some have found new life as art galleries or attractive restaurants serving
local dishes. Close to the gate, Hisar Kapisi, we will see the beautifully restored
bedestan (covered bazaar). A walk down from the hill near the Citadel Gate will
take us many interesting stalls and vendors selling spices, dried fruits, nuts
and all manner of produce. About late afternoon we are going to drive back.
